Brown trout fishing good when the boats can get out. Minnow baits and plainer boards.
Some spring salmon being caught on the first bank.
26 lb. & 28 lb. spring Kings taken off Muskegon - 40 - 60 foot of water using Silver Streaks.
FRANKFORT AREA/BETSIE RIVER REPORT - APRIL 28, 2004
Steelhead fishing fairly good. Most are already spawned out and dropping back. High water last week helped the fishing. Spawn/yarn still best bait. Close to end of the run.

Rough couple of weeks with the wind but the boats that did get out have done fairly well on Browns. North of piers is best. 5-12 feet of water. Stick baits best - smelt color.
TRAVERSE CITY FISHING REPORT - APRIL 28, 2004
Still fish on the nests in the Boardman River. A lot of fish dropping back now as the big run is over. Most are already spawned out, but there are still a few fresh fish left to be had.
Some perch in the Bays, but spotty. The early boats fishing for Lake Trout are doing excellent using cowbells and spin 'n glows. Green & white best.

Boardman River - lots of fishermen. Very few Steelhead yet. Whitefish and Lake Trout being taken at the mouth and off the walls in Downtown.

Betsie River high. Steelhead fishing slow. A few fish being taken off the piers. Fair to slow for boat fishing.

Good Brown Trout fishing and a few Steelhead being taken off the piers. South pier best. Boats trolling North along the beach doing good. Blue & silver #7 Rapalas best.

Brown Trout fishing excellent. 5-10' of water. Small stick baits best. 17 lb. brown taken off Stoney Creek this week.
